Spy Mission: DIY Monogram Stickers

I am a firm believer that you don't need to spend a lot of money to have a beautiful wedding and I especially love DIY projects that add a personal touch to each wedding. I also really love using monograms with the couple's names or initials as a way of unifying and tying together different aspects of the wedding together without spending a fortune on developing a theme and buying a ton of color-specific accessories.

I was lucky enough to work with Tanya for her wedding last year and I wanted to find a way to incorporate their monogram (designed by the groom himself!) on to as many things as I could while keeping the budget low. One idea was to put the monogram on all of the wedding favour boxes. So instead of getting customized favour boxes done, I came up with DIY Monogram Stickers! These are great because you can literally stick them everywhere and can be a nice way to create a cohesive look for the entire wedding.

Here's what you need:
1. A computer with any image-designing software or even just MS Word.
2. A printer.
3. Sticky-back paper.
4. A pen-knife and a cutting board.
5. A long ruler.

Step 1: Design a monogram for yourselves on your computer (or get a talented friend to help!)

Step 2: Purchase some sticky-back paper. I went with A4 sized paper that had no cuts on it and was suitable for being printed on by an inkjet printer. I found it at a stationery shop in Raffles Place selling at $25 for a pack of 100 sheets. On one side, it looks like regular printer paper.

Step 3: Measure your intended sticking surface to figure out how big or small you want your stickers to be. Here, I'm using an old namecard box which is about the same size as the boxes containing the wedding favours. Measure the height and width so you can estimate the height and width for your stickers.

Step 4: Crop your monogram image to the required height and width. Using your software program or MS Word, arrange the monograms to fit as many as you can onto a sheet of A4 paper then print them onto your sticky-back paper. It also took me a couple of tries before I realised it is a smart idea to have some dotted lines between your monogram images as a guide for when you are cutting the stickers out later.
Step 5: Cut out the stickers using a long ruler and pen knife on a cutting board.

Step 6: Paste!
And that's not all! You can make stickers in any size you want to suit where ever you'd like to stick them. You can also use them on your thank you cards and gifts and just about anywhere really! So enjoy making your stickers and adding a personal but cost effective touch to your wedding.

Oh, and here's what they looked like at the actual wedding. It took us about an hour and a half between three people to get the stickers on about 300 boxes.

There was a favor box at each place setting.
